PCI team members brought home four awards at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Chicago 2024 Skyline Awards on September 26, 2024.

Among the awards, three honored digital marketing, social media and community relations client programs. All three (which you can learn more about below) received Skyline Award recognition—the top of their respective categories—making PCI the highest-awarded company of the night. As a result, we were honored to receive the 2024 Organization of the Year award.

We are incredibly thankful for our clients who have made these programs possible and our team members who brought these programs to life and delivered exceptional, award-winning value to our clients. Congratulations to all PRSA Chicago 2024 Skyline Award winners on their well-deserved recognition.

Skyline Award for Community Relations – Associations/Government/Nonprofit Organizations

Park District of Oak Park

Oak Park Award

Facing challenges, including pandemic-affected fundraising and criticism from anti-tax groups, Oak Park’s Park District, nonprofit Parks Foundation and Public Communications Inc. accomplished what most thought impossible: Raise $20 million to build a community center without raising taxes. The 5-year campaign navigated issues, rallied the community, and exceeded every program objective, resulting in the self-sustaining Community Recreation Center that answers the needs of diverse youth and seniors. The integrated campaign helped gain public support, mitigate criticisms, and raise $20 million for the new Center that offers everyone a place to belong and focuses on community mental and physical health and wellness.

Skyline Award for Best Use of Digital Marketing

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

AAOS Award

As the world’s largest medical association of musculoskeletal specialists, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) sought ways to further reach its 39,000 members with engagement and education opportunities as organic channels yielded fewer leads. Since 2020, PCI has helped build a digital advertising infrastructure for AAOS to target members more effectively around the value of membership and continued education opportunities to help increase marketing return on investment.

Skyline Award for Best Use of Social Media

AARP Illinois

AARP Award

AARP Illinois’ in-person events stopped in 2020 due to the pandemic; these events were crucial to recruiting and engaging new members, a key measurement at the national level. This led PCI to help AARP bring its educational events to social media to ensure safe, easy and equitable access for older adults. As the world opened, the organizations doubled down on virtual programming, running on average three events per week across Facebook, Instagram & YouTube, which helped the state achieve a year-over-year increase in engagements and national AARP recognition as the gold standard for a “digital-first” approach to engaging members.
